While my neighbors might think my lawn is full of weeds, I know all the treasures, like this valuable herb plantain!

Happy Friday all!

I can’t deny that I have mixed emotions this week. The beginning of the week was total insanity when I realized that I might have lost all the comments on my blog from day one! I was devastated and enlisted the help of many wonderful blogger friends and programming experts who finally helped me to realize that one of my WordPress plug-ins had “degraded” and had not been updated in 2 years and thus had stopped working. Once I deleted it, the comments all came back! Oh total joy as I went back and read through some of the lovely things you all have said to me over the past year! Sending each and every one of you out a huge hug for your kindness and comments. I value each and every one of them just like I value you!

That isn’t obviously the reason I have mixed emotions. You see, my sister-in-law is expecting her second baby, a wee little boy and he was due today and he still isn’t here! I can’t WAIT for the new arrival into our family, but I also do not want life to rush forward too quickly as it often does when focused on new things in life. You all obviously know that my first baby is going off to college in the fall and will graduate in less than a month, so I do not want time to go by fast, but I do want the baby to get here, thus the mixed emotions!

Just like my lawn! I giggle when I see my neighbors walking by and some of them turning their noses up at my happy dandelions (liver tonic!), wild ramps (yah garlic!), chickweed (oh so good in salads!) and plantain (great for bug bites and bruises!) While I am happy to finally see some new growth in my lawn, it reminds my husband that lawns must be mowed! There are always two sides to a situation aren’t there? I do always try and look on the positive side and get the most out of every situation, just like the violets I ate on my salad this week!

Alex, I’m laughing at your “weeds” because our tractor is out of commission right now and the grass and weeds in the yard look like hay! I’m loving it because the yarrow and red clover are going to flower soon! I’m hoping to gather all of them! Come celebrate with me as my blog turns one year old! Thanks so much for all your help!

Thanks for hosting and sharing the story about your weeds.I miss those days,I grew up in the province and we practically use herbal remedies all the time before going to the doctor..lol..pretty bad but its an old age habit which is slowly fading nowadays.

Hi Alex dear! I hope you’re having a great holiday weekend! Bet the weather is so delightful up there right now! Sorry you had your comments deleted and hope you get this one from me. Bummer! I just linked up to your Friday party (a bit late), and would like you to come on over and add a recipe on mine. You’re still one of my top faves on my list and I am sorry if I haven’t commented enough the last 2 weeks while I was on vacay . . . but, man, I was REALLY on vacay . . . very, very laid low!

    Happy Weekend, Alex
