Happy Friday Everyone!

You know, you think that once things slow down, life will be easy! Not so! I had a heck of a time getting onto the computer this fine day and it just goes to show that you have to learn to go with the flow! My daughter was totally flipping out because today was a planned “MOM” day, which translates to mom takes you shopping for summer clothes and then to lunch and then all is well with the summer world for you. A little delay never hurt anyone! So let’s get on with things here so I can get out the door with her!

So happy to be featuring Ellen of Mom on a Mission!

Ellen is a young wife, married to her wonderful husband Nick for a year and a half, and expecting her first child in October. During the week she teaches Russian language classes at a nearby university, but her passions are for home, family, natural living, and good health. She is committed to providing the healthiest possible diet for her growing child, and shares her recipes at her blog, A Mom on a Mission, which she began shortly after learning that she was expecting. She also blogs about her pregnancy, fitness routines, and readings in the world of nutritional science. Ellen comes from a distinctly agricultural background, and those roots are very evident in all of her recipes, which include fresh pastured eggs from the chickens at the family farm, hormone- and antibiotic-free meat from the farm, and lots of veggies from the garden. Her nutritional views are heavily informed by the paleo movement, and she also has a lot of love for the Weston A. Price Foundation. Future blog topics will include lots more husband-approved recipes, ideas for canning and preserving the home-grown vegetable harvest, thoughts on natural childbirth (she is planning a midwife-attended home birth), and ideas about gentle and natural parenting – she already knows that she will be an extended-breastfeeding, baby-wearing, co-sleeping, attached mother who will remain committed to healthy (and tasty!) eating throughout breastfeeding and childhood. She is the kind of girl who lives a life very similar to my granny and I know my granny would have loved her! So please visit Ellen’s information packed website and wish her well with the baby!
